PAVEL HOLÝ

Pavel Holý was born in 1968. He studied at the academy of fine arts in prague from1989 to 1996, where he graduated from the studio of classical painting led by professor Zdeněk Beran. This studio taught the same method of painting that was used in the 17th –19th centuries by all the famous European painters whose paintings can be seen in galleries around the world. This means that when working on a painting Pavel uses the same materials, brushes, oil colours, turpentine and linseed oil that were used centuries ago.

 

Except for the board on which the canvas is stretched and the final topcoat, no modern materials such as acrylic paints are used, neither does he use any modern methods of creating colour gradients such as airbrush. Paintings painted with acrylic paints cannot be restored, but Pavel wants his paintings to last in good condition for several centuries, just like the paintings of his famous predecessors.

 

He translates his passion for cars into paintings using a technique called hyperrealism.

 

His portraits of old vintage and modern luxury cars are breathtaking. He reveals the beauty of every detail. Using brushes and paints he translates the wonderful creations of famous automobile designers onto canvases. In his spare time, he gives lectures of classical painting.

 

Pavel Holy's last exhibition took place last year in the main building of the autoclub of the Czech Republic in Prague.

 

His work is also represented in the collection of the National gallery in Prague.
